My partner was Atree. Atree’s avatar was a box with a tree inside. The needles of the pine tree were green whereas the wood or stump of the tree was brown. The image was split in half with a horizontal line dividing light blue and orange. The tree sat on top of the orange and blue unfazed or uninterrupted by the dividing line.
Atree used the colors light blue, orange, green and brown. And used a tree as a physical symbole. The light blue represented fresh water as a homage to fishing. “Um… Cuz when I’m on the lake it’s nice.” But it’s also seen in the quote to represent just chilling on the lake during free time. The orange color represented a sunrise or all of them. Atree said that he enjoyed and had seen the sunrise every morning while working. “Working at Martindale there was a sunrise every morning”. Atree used a tree as an eyecatcher in his flag; it represents hiking, “Hiking with nothing around”. Atree enjoys the outdoors and thought that this would be a good symbol to include. The color green along with brown represent trees. “Just tree, nothing else”. This was simple and I thought that there was a deeper meaning when there was not.
Atree and I both put thought into our avatars. I put in more thought than him and he admits that. He went with a more simple design and a more simple approach. We both have things incorporated into our avatar that we enjoy and some things that have deeper meanings than just images. Adam uses a bright orange to to catch your eye and has such a simple design it makes understanding the colors and symbols meanings easy to understand. Adam incorporated hiking as a big part of his avatar. “I like that there are no people around.” Atree syas. My personal avatar has a lot going on rather than simply. It has lots of things that I enjoy and that mean alot to me. The only thing eye-catching about mine is the dots which represent snow.
I finished off the interview by asking Atree a few more questions. I asked if his whole avatar represented sunrises, outdoors, trees and water. His answer was “Facts”, this is yet another example of his simple design. Another question was why does he like trees so much? “Fun to burn.” Was his answer. Next I asked if the blue meant all water or just a certain body of water. “ Freshwater I hate salt water.” Was his answer. I was not sure if there was a certain lake or brook that meant something deeper. But yet again he kept it simple with the meaning. Lastly, I asked why he likes hiking so much. I was half expecting soothing funny but he said “I like that there are no people around.” This made me think that maybe there was a deeper meaning behind some of the symbols that he didn’t not tell me or even know himself.
