A kind hearted CNA

The world is always going to need good Samaritans to help others in need. Society relies on our doctors, nurses, police officials, firefighters, etc., to care for our loved ones and to protect those in need. People with these occupations are quite heroic and caring for the work they have chosen to take on. They fight hard each day in order to protect and serve. Society thanks them for their services but we tend to forget that these heroic people are just as ordinary as everybody else. All of those heroes go home each day to families of their own and spend their freetime as they please just like anybody else. Our heroes are extraordinary for the work they do but it is worth taking the time to ask what their lives outside of work contain, as simple as it may be.

I’ve known and have been dating my partner, Aaron, for over two and a half years now and he is one of the most kind-hearted and caring individuals I have ever met. He is a people person and can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He has such a positive attitude, even during the toughest of times. He supports the people around him and the people he cares for the most. He enjoys taking care of others which has led to him caring for the edlertly by becoming a CNA. It takes a lot of patience and responsibility to care for the life of others but he is up for the task. I remember how happy he was when he was hired at the Highlands retirement facility. He enjoys helping the elderly live the best they can as they carry out the end of their life’s journey.  He takes his role very seriously at the facility in order to ensure the residents are healthy and happy. He has had some strange stories to tell from his job for sure but he enjoys the work he does.

Aaron describes his job as fulfilling and the type of job where you have to be a jack-of-all-trades. The job does not only consist of just caring for the residents, you also become a therapist, a maintenance man, a housekeeper, and a friend when you start your shift each day. Aaron does not do his job just for the money. The memories you make and hear with the residents is a feeling unlike anything you can experience. Each person is unique and has their own life story to tell. Aaron takes the time to listen and comfort each and everyone of his patiences, whether it is helping them psychically or just by listening to them about their day. There is pleasure to be gained when you are able to put a smile on someone else’s face just by being there to listen as a friend.

We were laying on a blanket in the park, bundled up because the weather was getting chilly and the air was crisp, as he talked passionately about his work. We watched as families and couples walked by. The owner and their dog would stroll by or an abundance of cars would fill the quiet space. We talked about school and other simple happenings going on in our lives. We watched a few videos and just took the time to relax. Work was far from our minds. Our conversations were laid back and care free. We always take the time to listen to one another, as silly as the conversations may seem. The stress of work was off of our shoulders and we had the time to create our own memories in the park, as little as those moments may feel. The park is our place to go when we just need to let go of any stress in our lives and just take a moment to breathe. We sat, enjoying the quality time together and began talking about work again.

Aaron is not just a caretaker to the residents but also a friend and a support team. When times are rough, it is nice to have friends and family to lean on for support when you need it most. As a CNA, you are the person the elderly look to for reassurance and support when they need it. Times get rough, especially when you are growing old and begin to lose parts of yourself you had once before. Growing old can be frustrating and even scary so sometimes you just need a friend to lean on and that’s what CNA’s are there for. They are the caretakers for the elderly and work hard to ensure that they help comfort others to the best of their ability. Aaron has a kindness in his heart that radiates and comforts not only his residents but his friends and family as well.

Everyone in life needs a friend to lean on. Having a friend to lean on when life seems to be at its lowest is a warming feeling to have. Friends help support you and create small memories with you. They are there to listen when you’re struggling or just feel like talking up a storm. Life can be scary, no matter what age you are, which is something that everyone has in common. You can turn someone who lives around by listening and being there for them because everyone should have someone to lean on and look to for support.
