JYoung’s avatar had 4 symbols 5 with more in-depth understanding of symbols meanings. The D.C. Flag that JYoung used was to express a family trip he went on after graduating from his graduate school, UMF with his masters. The D.C. Flag family trip also means the more time he has away from studying to spend with his wife and kids which he had restrained himself to his studies. The Yellow Flower represents his wife and the type of flower she saw in her wedding bouquet and the type of flower is described as a Stargazing Lily. The Green Four-Leaf Clover represents his son’s birthday during St. Patricks Day during the month of March. The Clover also means the decorations the St. Patrick’s day brought along and his son would have happiness poured over him everytime he saw them. The Blue Star expresses the idea of a snowflake and that is JYoung’s favorite time of the year including his birthday during the season, the serenity, quiet, clear nights each day. The Red Heart symbolized the virtuous love his daughter had for him and his family and the way she had expressed her love as if she was “wearing it on her sleeve” (JYoung) towards everyone. JYoung intentionally had 4 items of notice because he made it sure that each one of his immediate family members were involved as a way to show they were a big part of his life. Lastly the order from left to right of the items were not accidental and were created as a way to showcase “Chivalry” (JYoung) towards the ladies of the house with a touch of the order being oldest to youngest.
The greatest thing that had me glancing more than one look were the 4 items at the top, specifically the Blue Star and the meaning behind this. The Blue Star had me the most confused as to why a star, why the choice of blue and the feasible reason as to what the essence behind the item possibly be in his life. The Blue Star in reality was representing a snowflake and the reason for this item to make it upon the avatar is because it means winter and snow and JYoungs favorite time of year is the Winter Season. The Yellow Flower got mere scraps of my attention because I believed that the simple flower did not need any and was used as a filler. The Flower had regained my favor because the true meaning of it was quite beautiful therefore bumped up from the bottom of the list.
JYoung had begun creating his avatar within the concept of family ingrained in the overall concept of the meaning. The Yellow flower to mean the love for his wife and an important memory they share which is their Wedding. The Red Heart to show others the love that JYoungs daughter expresses each time he sees her. The Blue Star is a simplified snowflake and that shows others winter is a big part of joy for JYoungs seasonal life and the significance it had made in his life. The Green Clover is the day of his son’s birth, coinciding with St. Patrick’s Day and JYoungs son has pure happiness when St. Patrick’s Day is close and the decorations are out. Finally the flag at the back drop represents a trip JYoung took after graduating from a graduate school with a masters and the time he spent away from family during his entire time studying. The family trip was an act of gratitude that JYoung threw towards his family for sticking by his side the entirety of the time.
JYoungs avatar is different to mine as his is composed of things that influenced his life by what others do or say. The entire avatar showed his love and passion for each member of his family and each object that was placed is the one special item that JYoung gave to each one of them. JYoung had a memory connected so when things in life appear like one of the objects he remembers the wonderful memories with it and the person that is deeply connected in his heart. The avatar created myself is composed of things that one should have to show love, loyalty, and compassion. This avatar was created with one specific event that genuinely took place the the life yours truly. One person had no trust from the beginning and the other show he trust to show his loveand compassion for the other because he was infatuated with them. As time went on the First took the Seconds chains of trust and snapped them in half, dropping the love and compassion it once held. After such events unfolded the Second person went and blocked his inner self and became a shell because no one person could mend to his broken chains.

The thing that immediately caught my attention was the 4 shapes for each of his immediate family (even himself), “JYoung had begun creating his avatar within the concept of family ingrained in the overall concept of the meaning.” I thought that was wholesome. This makes me wonder/reconsider if my parents also have the same creative process or thoughts of me; if given this task would they make something similar to J Young’s? The aspect of this avatar and this reflection are extremely positive, it talks about family and how a symbol can represent them. Deardenas talks about how his avatar was from one event unlike Jyoung’s which is based on his favorite memories. This makes me think about what other people did, and what would most people draw their character on. Maybe identity, memory, or core values? And could this translate to character or personality? One could definitely check this out by looking at the rest of the class’s posts. Another commenter could even give a perspective on this or a contrary opinion.
