Prep work comes in a bunch of different ways. You could prep for an essay, a driver’s test, or a school test. A lot of things in life need extra time and effort put into it to be successful. One thing I’ve learned so far in life is you can’t do everything without putting in the time to practice it. Some people don’t need to do this, they can perform their tasks without prior work. An example is me, I don’t need to practice an essay or prewrite it before I write it, I find it unnecessary and a waste of time, I usually have a good idea of what I am writing and the format. But other tests like an AP test, math test, and even my driver’s test. I put in extra work so I can produce a quality product and pass those tests. It depends on who you are, but I’d always recommend putting in prep work and thinking ahead. It is a great skill to have in life.
The thing about prep work or prepping ahead, you don’t need to do it, but it will pay off for you in the long run. There are a lot of different ways that prep work could pay off for you, if you just put in a little extra time, it will pay off. Let’s make a hypothetical situation to show this. Let’s say you enrolled in an AP economics course, It’s getting towards the end of the year. You are all done with work and now it’s time to study for the test, you think you already know what’s going on and you waste your time. Exam day comes, and all of your friends show up early to study and talk to share knowledge to help each other out. But instead of that, you show up late, you don’t need to study, you think you know everything. Test time comes, and you forget “easy” questions that you previously thought you had mastered. After the test, you feel like you did poorly. July comes and everyone gets their scores back, everyone else passes or does better than you. You get upset because you slacked off, you were overconfident, and didn’t put in the quality time. On the flip side, you put in the extra time to study. The night before you studied instead of playing video games, you showed up early to study, and you used the time given to you in class wisely. You ended up passing your test, and you felt good while taking it. That’s why prep work can be so important. It could be something simple, but something as serious as deciding if you get college credit or not.
