The Mystical Flying Pencil

When I was younger I always seemed to get sent out of the room, told to be quiet, and separated from my friends while I was at school and it was all because I was laughing. My favorite story from school about laughter was when I was in 8th grade. Before I start I need to preface my friend has the skill of making everything funny she would add to a story and make it so ridiculous we’d be on the floor laughing. My humor has been forever influenced by the jokes she has made. My friend was in all of my classes in 8th grade so there wasn’t a time I was not entertained by her stories.

So it was a typical day in study hall and we were trying to get our work done while sitting on the floor in the English room. I looked down to my left and found a birthday pencil on the floor next to me so I obviously had to pick it up. I started to make the pencil dance and I was putting it in front of my friend’s face and she took it from me and started to make up a backstory for this ominous pencil that was on the ground. We started immediately started laughing so hard and play hitting each other because it was so funny. She started to pretend it was going under the door and into the next room and was doing impressions of what the kids in the other class were saying and how shocked they would be to find out that the flying pencil was on the loose. She then was pretending the flying pencil was flying downstairs and into the science room. I have no clue as to how she could make up such funny stories/scenarios right on the fly but it never failed to make me laugh. I don’t remember exactly what she said but it was along the lines of “imagine the pencil chasing everyone around the room and creating chaos”. All of my memories with her have been full of laughter and I don’t regret anytime getting kicked out of class for laughing or rolling on the floor when there was a flying pencil on the loose because it was totally worth it.
