Ownership. What is ownership? Ownership is the act in which you possess something as a result having ownership can be looked at in different ways. Ownership means you have something, whether it’s meaningful to you or not. There are items we cherish, and they are a big piece of who you are. One can become arrogant with what they have, this shows that sometimes having ownership of something can be harmful to a person’s character. Ownership can be 2 separate things. Ownership can be helpful but yet harmful.
Sometimes having ownership of lots of things can make someone cocky and believe that their special because of what they have. In the passage it states that, ¨Plato argues that owning objects is detrimental to a person’s character.¨ which can be true, because someone who has a lot, and knows they have a lot, can sometimes be too arrogant about what they have and what others don´t. It can make someone seem ungrateful.
And the other times when someone has ownership of something is that their proud of it, and they use it as a great resemblance of things they went through to get there. in the passage,¨Aristotle claims that ownership of tangible goods helps to develop moral character.¨ which is essentially saying that having ownership of objects that are seen and felt can also create character by having those objects as connections to good times in your life.
In conclusion, Having ownership can be effective in 2 different ways. The meaning of ownership can be different to you than it is to others. It can be detrimental to one’s character or it can be good to have tangible objects for one to hang onto. How does having ownership affect you?
