The use of social media is rising more and more every year, when will it be too much. Social media can be a tool, entertainment, but it also can be harmful and negative. Social media is a part of everyday life for most people, in some cases it can make ways of communicating exciting and efficient. In other way it can be corrupting, and creating more stress and chaos on a person. Should social media continue to grow or should social media take a step back?

Social media has worked its way into modern society, in a way that it won’t ever leave, People use social media so much that it simply won’t ever go away, 91% of people in the US use it every single day. Social media has created so many uniqe ways of communicating, through pictures, videos, messages, face times, and more. With all these new intriguing ways to communicate it draws people to get addicted to it, 33.19 million people in the USA are addicted to social media. Just by simply going on your phone you also are given a way to access entertainment from just about anywhere. All this is good until you think of the long-term effects of media.
Social media is addicting just like anything else and when you don’t use it in moderation it can get out of hand. Social media has drawn people to be glued to their phone. Social media is also proven to be devastating on mental health, even in some cases leading to depression. It also gives an outlet to those who try to bully over the internet, especially when the target is younger children. Social media can also make people feel very isolated and self-conscious, people looking at social media are given unrealistic expectations which leads them to think down on themselves.
