Text vs Call

Mobile devices have become a integral part of daily life in today’s society. Phone calls and text messages have become the most popular way of communicating over distance, and still on the rise. Over the many year of texting and calling, calling use to be most used but now with today’s technology it is texting seems to be by far more popular.

Texting over calling is a great way the to communicate over long distance, it’s fast, convenient, and structured, it is also the most used way of communication, 23 billion text messages sent per day. Like anything, there are of course down sides to texting. Texting delays responses and when the person cant get back to you for an extended period of time it makes it difficult to get information needed. Texting also takes full concentration, texting can be a distraction sometimes as well. Understanding sarcasm in a text is impossible, somone can’t make it out what someone is trying to say if they use sarcasm over a text. Also, text has no emotion which makes it hard to understand how a person might feel when not hearing them, this makes calling sometimes a better choice than texting.

Calling over texting is also a great way of communicating especially when looking for and immediate response, more personal conversations, more detailed conversations and an easier way to communicate more information, quickly. On the downside calling can be difficult in hard to hear in loud spaces, the receiver also could be busy like all people and not answer this delays whatever it is you need to say. Also if you have family far away you would have to pay to make that call, making texting sometimes a better choice than calling.

Now that the pros and cons of texting vs calling have been stated it’s clear to see both have their issues. Both are great options but I think texting is more efficient than calling, due to the convenience and structure of a text message.
