Driverless cars are being seen more and more as time progresses. While many Americans aren’t keen on driverless cars, there are many instances where they can help society run more efficiently. Companies that are producing these self-driving cars preach safety, and it’s evident that the technology has come to prove these statements true. Studies show that autonomous driving is almost 90% safer and less likely to get in an accident, as the most common cause of vehicular accidents is human error. Autonomous cars are helpful society and should become more integrated over time.

There are many different types of autonomous driving. Some vehicles use partial assists such as lane keep assist, and automatic braking to prevent collisions, and some vehicles offer software that reverses the vehicle into parking spots. Other brands, like Tesla, have had fully self-driving in development for years. Fully autonomous vehicles use a series of cameras and lasers to communicate with software specific to the car. The information is processed and sent back to the vehicle’s controls in order to operate the vehicle. Self-driving technology is being redefined every day, with each update making it safer, and more effective. Although companies often claim “full self-driving” many require the driver to be paying attention at all times, in case of emergency, the car will require the driver to take control. For example, Tesla uses sensors on the steering wheel to ensure that the driver is awake and attentive, while Chevy’s Super Cruise uses cameras and lasers near the steering wheel to ensure the driver is paying attention to the road. keen on driverless cars, there are many instances where they can help society run more efficient. Autonomous vehicles are being used across the country to support companies with jobs that require drivers. A company called Waymo has used self-driving cars to revolutionize the ride-sharing business. Waymo uses Google’s self-driving technology to offer completly self driving taxis to transport passengers. Other companies use autonomous robots to drive through town and deliver food. Tesla is currently devoloping technology that allows 18-wheelers to run fully on their own, eliminating the need for a driver. The whole point of self driving is to improve efficency and comfortablity for society.

I believe that self-driving cars are a great addition to society, and will be useful for years to come. As technology advances, self-driving cars will be used more and more throughout the entire world. Personally, I would rather be in control of the vehicle. I enjoy driving, and I trust myself when i’m in control. While self-driving cars aren’t my thing, I think they will be a great addition to society.
