Oh the Stories We’ll Tell

Hello, friends and family thank you for coming here to celebrate the class of 2024, my name is GBrant24. I am a senior at Oak Hill High school and would like to say how honored I am to be speaking right now, and I for one would like to say how hard it is to believe that such a huge day is finally happening, after the long wait. It’s really hard to believe I had a lot to do but it is happening and as I am here with all of you I will say this as we grow older, we learn more stories and more stories some fiction, some nonfiction, we have weaved our tales sometimes hurt or helped depending on how we felt and now it’s time for one of our biggest stories so far to come to an end, and a new one to begin time for us to start writing a story what kind we may not know just yet, but with time and hard work we pave our own path.

From the small chapters of our school life we have all grown and matured, to help each other nurture talents letting us grow as people and as friends. Through the years we have dealt with many obstacles in our little story, like covid which has managed to take a lot of time away from us, but we persevered through, some of us may have some fear or pain stuck in their heart from the past chapters in their lives and but they have overcome that darkness in their lives and even though there is much more that will challenge, each of us in the future. know this friends and family it will take a lot to burn us out if COVID hasn’t burnt us out then it’s gotta take a bit more to crush us down.

As I’ve gone through life I have read and heard many stories, some sad, some happy, but one that really stuck out to me was all the stories about teachers helping their students in a few different ways. Giving life experience for when we needed guidance through this confusing world by telling us where we are being stupid, which definitely happened to me personally or just giving good advice in a world where the smallest thing can make a big difference, or being funny and eccentric in a class that could have easily be very boring and tedious in a world where Membean is a thing, it was very important letting us laugh a bit,  in a place some would describe as a prison. So thanks to the teachers who have helped and guided us here today who made each school year somewhat enjoyable and thanks for the memories. As we have grown, some of us have you and our families to thank for some of our growth though some of us will definitely not say this. may this moment where we both laugh and cry be remembered for years to come as we grow older, learn new things, and gain new memories, may we grow to be great people just like all of you as our story continues.
