Hello, class of 2024, teachers and alumni. We’re almost that much closer to becoming an adult in a society where being a person matters no matter where you go but don’t just be a person be your person. Be the person you want to be, not the person others want you to be. Where messing up is fine just don’t catch yourself on fire in Mr. Mac’s welding class and burning your finger in the process of catching yourself on fire in school that’s not what I mean. Try new things and figure out what you want to do not what others want from you. After years of hard work and late nights, we made it. We Were able to get through the awkwardness of going on Google Meets and zooming in on our own homes for the first 2 years of high school lives then having to change to 5 days a week till 2 pm. But don’t even get me started on trying to concentrate on English class during those remote days it was like watching paint dry. In listening to the plagiarism talk and the newly introduced AI talk where people use technology to make an unrealistic essay you definitely can tell from what you would normally write to something that sounds nothing like you. But in the end, the class of 2024 we have finally made the final stretch of our long and treacherous high school journey and it’s coming to an end.
But the last days of school used to be our highlight knowing that you would see everyone at the same time next year. But now the end is almost here, our time has come. Let’s enjoy the remaining time together and reminisce on the times that we all had together on the senior trip or the class pictures in our cap and gown and remind ourselves that We won’t be coming back, instead, we are turning our backs to a new chapter so don’t just be human be your human do what you want no matter what. It’s time for your next adventure that next chapter of your life even if you don’t know what comes next. We live in the community that raised most of us from Sabuttus primary to Carrie Ricker to middle school. To the fun times like dressing to go to prom with that special person or just with your friends. this commencement speech is the ending of a beautiful time and the start of another amazing journey. But as we walk across the stage let’s take it in and remember the memories and cry a little it’s natural and go up with the biggest grin in the world like the monster in your nightmares and enjoy yourself.
