I think laughter plays a good role in the human life. Laughter plays a big role in my life because I’m always happy and surround myself with people who make me laugh. My nana is always laughing at something, usually at herself. She always said if you can’t laugh at yourself who can you laugh at.
My nana is the best at making people laugh especially when the whole family gets together for holidays, family reunions or just random events. We all contribute to bringing some kind of food whether its deserts or main course meal. Nana loved to bake pies for any event. Her pies are normally really tasteful but over the past years or so they haven’t tasted the greatest. Her dementia may have been a reason why they weren’t tasting so good. Or because she wasn’t following the recipe or adding other ingredients that didn’t belong. Nana had brought whipping cream for the pies at Easter. The carton was already opened and was expired from last year. She didn’t realize the carton was open or that it had expired. She says “bring it over, let me try” so she stuck her finger in the carton and licks the curtled cream off her finger. All of us are busting a gut laughing so hard because she says “this isn’t bad” with a straight face.
Nana was the type of person to just make everyone laugh once you saw her because she would have so many stories to tell us on what she messed up on. Nana was always a tough person and very independent. She hated asking for help. One afternoon I spent the day in New Hampshire. We were getting ready for four wheeling when Nana decides to test all the four I think laughter plays a good role in the human life. Nana was always a tough person and very independent. She hated asking for help. One afternoon I spent the day in New wheelers to see if they are good to go. In my Nanas front yard there was this little hump made in the ground. We all used to ride over it. One day Nana decides to go over it at a decent rate of speed and flies over the handle bars. She sat there for a second and laughed. Mind you she was 71 at the time and it was funny to see her laugh after a little accident because it made us all feel better about ourselfs.
Laughter is such a great medicine when you surround yourself with the right people. It lets out feelings and emotions you thought you never had. Proverbs 17:22 wisely states, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones”. Nana was a great example of positivity and the love of laughter.
