I was once told a story by my grandfather about the long hunt, my grandfather was an avid outdoors man and would go on for hours and hours about his hunts and challenges. but through these stories, one has stuck, and that’s the long hunt. The Long Hunt is a story about triumph and a hunt that lasted days longer than the anticipated few hours.
As my grandfather told it, it was a clear day for a deer hunt, he had been perched at this spot all season looking for a majestic and massive buck. he had walked through the vast array of trees and found a perfect tree that overlooked the whole valley where he was hunting. As he set his tree stand he looked with pride as he had found the perfect spot, he climbed the tall ladder to get to his platform, and with one last step, he was In a world hidden away from the rest. After hours of laying in wait for the now legendary deer, a flicker caught his eye, as he scoped in with his riffle he saw what he lay in wait for. he followed it for a few minutes until the beautiful creature looked his way exposing its large presence as if It were a god coming from the heavens. Without hesitation, he pulled his hair trigger and felt a sense of slow motion and connection with his environment around him. But not only were the long hours of waiting and days of hunting a test of his patience, but it was also the 5-hour hunt for the deer that my grandfather had just shot. lonesome he searched and searched for this deer with nothing bud the blood trail that was left by the deer. finally, he had laid his eyes upon the prize deer he’d been hunting for his whole life. This story was told to me by my grandfather to show that patience is key to achieving your goals and that life takes time no matter what if you try to speed it up or slow it down these goals are unachievable.
