While many people text more than they call, there are some disadvantages to both. If someone is constantly texting, it could impact their grammar. A lot of people get used to using slang or not capitalizing letters for texting so much. People will also get more comfortable with texting. Then they either lose or will not develop the skill of making phone calls. Especially to people they don’t know, restaurants, banks, workplace, ect. Which could have a major impact on people’s lives as they become an adult.

Texting can have a huge decline on people’s basic learning/spelling. While texting, most people will use slang or a lot of the time people will use words with the incorrect meaning. Which eventually begins to spread to other people who will use it the same way but they might never realize that they’re using it incorrectly, if they’re not corrected. If people begin texting from an early age like as a preteen or around that age it could possibly affect their learning. They’ll get used to typing in a way that is not grammatically correct and will most likely forget they need to capitalize certain letters or just be too lazy to do it and many will struggle to know the difference between there, their, they’re while also mixing up your and you’re.

Many people prefer texting because it’s easier, quicker, or more convenient. What they don’t realize is that if they never make phone calls to people outside of their circles, they will not develop the skill of talking to someone over the phone. They will struggle and/or be nervous if they have to call someone like they’re Doctor office or the bank and other businesses like that.

Although texting has its advantages, especially for people who are either on the go or just don’t want to make a phone call texting also has all of these downsides do have an effect on the adult life because for the people who prefer texting and basically rely on texting with slang will either not know how or will struggle to write a correct email to someone of importance for example a college professor or their boss. Which ties into making phone calls. As an adult you need to have the skill of being able to call and make appointments, check on an order and call your place of work if you’re sick. Many people do not have this skill which causes them to appear lazy or just immature.

In conclusion, people might prefer texting instead of making phone calls, but they’re actually making it harder for themselves. Texting might have its benefits of being fast and easy, but only relying on texting deprives people of social skills and basic grammar. It also can affect people’s adult lives because they won’t have the skills of making or answering phone calls and also being able to write a proper email.
