Ran Away in Disney World

For my and my sister’s third birthday our parents took us to Disney World. We were having a lot of fun until the third or fourth day of the trip. We were in Hollywood Studios, at the time it was MGM studios. It was a very hot summer day in August and we decided we wanted to go see the Muppets or something because they were at MGM studios and my sister and I really enjoyed them. When my parents were talking to my sister I ran off because I thought we were ready to leave where we were and go to the ride. I started running off and when I looked back at them they were gone I almost felt like I would never see them again and it scared me. I couldn’t see them anymore because it was very crowded and there were a lot of people blocking me, it was pretty terrifying for a 3 year old. Since I was so small it was even harder for me to find where I was. I made it to where the Muppets were and I stood there and watched them not worrying about my parents. My parents later told me that when they realized I was gone and had run off they started to freak out and they were very worried. My parents split up and started looking for me everywhere, of course I did not know it at the time but they told me after. While I was watching the Muppets a lady came up to me and asked me if I was lost. I said yes and went and sat with her, she had a tattoo booth near where I was. After awhile of waiting with her my dad finally found me and I was happy again. He seemed very angry because he thought I was lost but he didn’t stay angry for that long because he was relieved that he found me. He was also angry because they were going to have the park shut down if I was not found and that would not make the people in the rest of the park happy if they had to leave. For the rest of the trip my parents kept me very close to them and never let me out of their sight it was almost like i was chained to them the rest of the trip. My mistake was running away from my family and not staying with them, I made them so worried and I never want them to feel like that again. I knew never to do that again and I never did, I would never want to scare them like that again. It was not a very good decision to leave my family. If I was back in that situation I would not have run off or at least told them where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do. I also believe this may be part of the reason why we did not return to Disney World for ten years.

I can remember a long time ago when we went somewhere for a train ride and my brother had disappeared. He did not run off he was just to busy eating his slushie that he got left behind. I noticed that he was not with us anymore and my mom freaked out. So I can relate to this.

I really liked how you included how your seemingly small decision at the time turned into a big mistake and that you would never do it again since it negatively affected your parents and caused them to worry.

I really loved how discriptive you were when you were telling this story and I had an experience very similar to this but it just was not at Disney. I also loved how you remembered the details of what you were doing and who found you before your dad did. This is great.
