Music is the way to the mind and the soul. High school can be a sea of various emotions and things happening all at once. With the time crunch of the end of the semester approaching, procrastination and distractions cannot be a daily occurrence anymore. If you are like me, you rely all on the study hall periods you have to get that homework done. That being said, it is very hard to focus while being in that room surrounded by all of your friends, or sometimes you mind just cant stay on your work without wandering, but there is always that one thing that seems to quench your needs…..music. But oh no! Something very bad has happened, your heart starts beating rapidly, you think to yourself “how am I going to do my work?”. You have misplaced or forgotten your headphones. The only thing that helps you struggle through the school day and lets you block out all of the annoying humans in your presence. Since this is high school and we are all in this together, maybe someone will loan you a pair.
Study hall. Period 1. White days. Here I am sitting, and I look to my left, and I see this young girl by the name of Sydney Drew. You can tell she is really struggling, trying to manage to pass her Pre-Calculus test, finish poetry connections, and study for anatomy all at once. She can’t focus, doesn’t know where her headphones are, and theres no way shes going ot be able to get all of this done, and her brain is in a cramp. Luckily, me being the prepared (this day only) person I am, I notice her struggle and realize that she can use the pair of headphones I had sitting in my laptop case. This devine pair of white ear buds from TJ Maxx have just saved this girls life, she will now be able to get her homework done and pass with flying colors. In highschool, headphones are what gets us through the day.
Now comes the day, where I am the unprepared one. Seniorritis is getting real, there are only a couple days left of the semester, and it is crunch time. Cramming in all these hundreds of minutes of membean, poetry connections, getting this very blog post done, and trying to remember what it seems like every single muscle on the body for anatomy. I sit down in study hall, finally get the motivation to pull out my laptop and start working, but then I reach into my laptop case and…. oh no. The worst has happened. I, did not bring my headphons. Everyone is all stressed out, there is so much going through my mind with all of the work I need to get done, applying to college, and my life feels like a mess at the moment. Luckily, here I am back in the class sitting next to Sydney Drew, the one who I had previously loaned my headphones to about a month before. She noticed my struggle, and preceded to hand me the extra pair of headphones she had for me. She said that this was to pay me back fro doing the same for her before. The term an eye for an eye really came to play during this, although it was for a much better reason.
Sometimes in life, it is really the little things that make the biggest changes. Because of Sydney and I doing this favor for each other, we were both able to now more productively get our homework done with ease. One of the lessons I learned in life from this is that the more good you do for people, it really will pay off in the end.

This was a very well written post. I enjoyed how you made a simple thing like sharing your headphones so interesting. I agree that headphones are an ideal part of getting through the school day! Little things can make a big difference.
