Resilience, a lot of people have resilience but I don’t think anyone here has had the resilience of Louie Zamperini, his story of resilience, his fighting for his life, and not being able to get the help that he would ask for if he was able to do so. I also have used resilience as well; it is not the same but I still used it, and finished what I needed to get done. Louie was very much aware, this was very important to him. He was able to stay calm and be aware of what they are doing and how they are surviving. Being aware allowed Louis to make it seem easy with being so calm and taking action about what happened, so that they all survived.
In this story, they were the most calm I have seen someone in a story like this. They used their resources; they were able to do the things that they needed. They stayed calm. The only person in the duration of the movie that I saw not calm, was one person eating all the food. As I said, I do not have this kind of experience–crashing and trying to survive in the middle of the ocean, but I know that I have used my strengths before, just like writing this paper, my strength is writing. One way that I use my resilience is when I focus and don’t get overwhelmed, I can write a very good paper. But being me and having dyslexia and reading comprehension problems, my head can go from this paper to horses and two seconds. I am sure the first thing that all three of them had thought when they first got on that boat they thought “I’m going to die” or when they got on the boat and saw that plane, shooting off the flare gun. The plane turned around and shot at the boat, making it almost sink. But after that even the shock, they stayed calm.
n my life, resilience is sitting down and doing all of my work, with no distractions or nothing, just me my laptop and my work. With how much my brain can’t handle, being able to sit down and focus on work, I can’t do it unless I’m completely focused. Like what I said before, my story isn’t like Louie Zamperini’s but I am still using my resilience to do this. “had yanked the raft-release handle just before the crash”, he took charge and pulled, the raft handle, because he knew that he needs to survive and he can’t do it in the water. The resilience inside of him in that moment, makes you think, “Will I ever be able to have this kind of resilience”.
To conclude all of this, basically I am saying that everyone has resilience and everyone does use it when they need to, but sometimes, it isn’t as bad as crashing a plane into the water, getting shot at, losing his best friend, getting captured, and tortured. This is about Louie Zamperini’s story. He had the resilience, I wish I had.

I too have had a similar experience, I constantly see my mother’s resilience and how she never lets anything knock her down and keep her down. I learned how to build resilance through her and still to this day I constantly ask myself, will I ever have her type of strength.
