The one that got away

The day was cloudy and I wasn’t feeling confident enough to win or even finish in the top 5 considering my record of crashing out of all of them the last 3 years the car was decent in practice but we didn’t have the speed I felt we needed, In the biggest race of my life the laps winding down and I’m in the lead with two of the fastest cars and best racers behind me. I lost the water pump on lap 11 and have raced 20 laps with water all over the windshield the car was getting looser and looser. It’s sliding all over the place and getting a lot hard to keep it on the bottom.

The day that I have been waiting for is finally here I am so excited to be racing in the biggest race of my life. This race is very fun you race with the best in Maine and the people that I grew up racing with such as my dad, Kyle Hewins, Maurice Young, and Rick Spaulding. The first year racing the shootout I got taken out by veteran Corey Morgan and I have told him how unhappy I was to say it nicely. The second shootout I had a real good car I started in the back and was quickly moving up through the field until I got turned around by Lewis Anderson we are still not on good basis. The third shootout I had a decent car started mid pack and went up to eighth until my spoiler came off and loosened up the car too much. This year 2017 was my redemption I had raced there all year and knew we would have speed we just needed some luck.

The 2017 shootout day started as any other race day we loaded up drove there filled out paper work and got working on the car in time for practice. I was nervous but ready to go we practiced all day and we struggled so we adjusted big time before the heat race. I went out in the heat race and we blew a brake line in the 1st lap so we fixed it and got ready for the race. I went out in the race starting p12 and we had several cautions and I kept pushing to the front until I got the lead on lap 11 I lost the water pumping so I was losing water and the car was tough to control but I lead until lap 38 of 40 and slipped up finishing the race in 2nd a disappointing 2nd place but all in all the race was fun.
The 2017 shootout was a mistake I will never forget but coming home with $1000 of lap money and hard charger award I was happy but the hard part to swallow is the guy that won also outran me in the championship this year but I plan to come back better than ever this year.

This is a very interesting story and was a great read. It was very interesting and showed great knowledge of the subject. I would describe the car terms in ways for others to understand easier although this story shows good depth and allows for a better understanding of both racing and cars.

I remember when we first became friends and you told me you raced racecars, and how no matter what I supported you. Though it is rough you got 2nd place, just think of how close you really were to the 1st position. Correct your mistakes and get the results you want bobcat, youve got this, I believe in you. I want to hear you winning the next race you hear me?
