It’s black Friday at 4:00 in the morning at the Maine Mall. Our legs are tired from walking around and we are exhausted. I need to go to the paper store so that I can buy my mom’s Alex and Ani bracelet like I do every year. As Mikayla, Clayton and I wait impatiently for the store to open we find the benches in the play area to sit on and relax. As we wait I go into Super Shoes, the store across from the play area to get some more Christmas gifts. Let’s just say I came back and Clayton was laying in one of the little play houses asleep.
As I came out of the store and entered the play area once again I sat next to Mikayla and waited. A few minutes later a janitor came by cleaning the area and looked into the house. His facial expression was hilarious and he looked at us and looked away a few times. He then said to us, “Is he with you?” and our response was “No”. Except the thing is, is that Mikayla and I were laughing hysterically and he still did not catch on to the fact that he was. The janitor mumbled under his breath “Well I’ve never seen this before. Security will have to deal with this one” and walked off.
As he walked away I said, “Clayton, Clayton” but he did not hear me so I left him there. To be honest, I did not think that two security people would show up and go talk to him. They crouched down and said, “Hey, you do know this isn’t a real house right?” and Clayton sat up and said, “I know. I just did not want to take up space on the bench, so I decided to lay here”. Clayton got out of the house and when security walked away he looked at me with a mad face. The face of disappointment and anger all at once.
Although Clayton got mad about not getting woken up before the security came, laughing at the situation was easier than being upset for the rest of the morning. It was hilarious to Mikayla and I, but it may not be funny to the person who gets security called on them. After walking around, Clayton looked at us angrily and said “When I went over there, there was a girl saying to her mom, “Did you see that guy sleeping in the play house?”” and let me tell you I laughed harder because those people did not know that it was him. I got in a little bit of trouble by him and he ignored me for a few minutes, but then he came back and decided to laugh at what happened to. That is when I learned to never let a friend(or boyfriend) fall asleep in the play area at the Maine Mall.

I think that was really funny how you let him be. I also like how the security guard asked him if he knew it was a “you know this wasn’t a real house” that was funny. I feel like that’s something I would do.
I remember this night! Although it wasn’t funny to him it was very funny to us! Glad he got over it and wasn’t mad for too long, but a great memory and laugh to have!
