Dependable Friends

At the beginning of my junior year, I still didn’t have a job and I wasn’t quite searching for one either. Out of the blue, my best friend Jada found me one at her aunt’s home daycare. Conveniently, it was right in between my house and school. I always enjoyed being surrounded by children. Though I didn’t have much experience being around them, especially not in a daycare environment. Pretty scared to start working, told myself I needed to try it out. See what happens. But I soon learned by working at the daycare, that I had a passion for working with children– ages 0-5 especially. Going there everyday always made things better. It was my happy place. While I have another job now at Sabattus Primary aftercare, even that made me realize how much I love little ones. If Jada never got me a job at the daycare, I wouldn’t have discovered what I want to do in life. Be a preschool teacher! Same goes for me helping Jada, once I started working at my new job, she was able to work at my old one. Jada and I have a long lasting friendship, starting all the way back in kindergarten. While we don’t talk on a daily basis, I know I can rely on her to always be there to pick things up right where we left off. But more important than a friend helping you out here and there, is a friend that you can always rely on.

I have a long distance friend named Jessica who I got close to towards the end of my freshman year. If I could trust anyone with anything going on in my life, it would be her. She has been there for me in my hardest times. Seen me in my darkest moments. Helped me through everything, no matter the time of day. A friend like that, is worth more than anything in this world. So I try to repay her by being there for her, just like she is for me. It is so important to always check up on your friends, like they do for you. Jessica helped me flourish over the past four years. As soon as I got my license, I went to visit her in Norway. We spent the afternoon eating out, talking about life like we always do. Except this time it got to be face to face. A long time coming, after almost four years of knowing eachother. If I didn’t have Jessica to go to, I wouldn’t have made all the right decisions to come this far.

I know that I have been able to help my other friend Makayla in many ways. We’ve been friends for many years now, since we went camping together. She is younger than me, which makes me happy that I can be a rolemodel for her. I can use my knowledge and experiences to ease her pain. When I know she’s been having a rough time, I would bring her coffee and try to cheer her up. Remind her how time passes quicker than you think, I mean she’s only a freshman! When she needed a break from what has been stressing her out, I took her shopping. She is the type of friend I can fool around with all the time. We have a stupid sense of humor together. I try to be the kind of friend to her, that I wish I had when I was her age.

All of these friends have important, but also different roles in my life. One friend helps me succeed, another become a better person, and the last bring out my funny yet also caring side. If not for these three closest friends of mine… I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Words can’t quite express my gratitude for the friends I currently have in my life.

It’s always nice to have friends you can depend on. It’s always been that when I have friends I enjoy being around and they are happy it in turn makes me happy. Have dependable friends is a key part of getting through life. Because without friends you don’t get the feeling of companionship that you would if you did have friends. And with friends you can rely on each other for help and they can come to you for help.

I am glad that you have three friends that you can count on at anytime even if you do not talk on a daily basis. I am glad that you have a friend who helped you find a career that you are interested and to never give up on. As a role model for others I know you will lead each and every one of your friends with such great advice and support. Anyone is truly lucky to be able to know you and be friends with you. Never give up on those who believe in you, inspire you to become better, and push you to reach your goals!
