Finding fire or love in a subject for me is truly difficult, unless it’s history or science. My reasons can be odd and my reasons can be significant but ever since I began school it’s been all about history and science. These 2 subjects have given me the best times in school and I believe that’s why I like them so much. I began taking school (or at least these subjects) very seriously when I told myself I wanted to expand my knowledge and pursue a deeper understanding of these topics. Education is a privilege and not many people realize it. It is so much more than just going to school and getting schoolwork. It’s about preparing young kids to be working supporters of their nation because as humans we all have a specific job and life we live and somehow, someway it helps bring the world together as one. From then on I have really been educated in history and science. I’ve read many books, took many classes, stepped out of my comfort zone and challenged myself to understand new learning and memorized vocab and common phrases. I think that my understanding of these subjects complete me as a student. Yeats quote and my experience relate because I never want to stop learning about things I enjoy. Going back to Yeats quotes, he states that education is like lighting a fire. What I believe he means from that is once you realize how important learning is it’s something you will never want to stop doing and again I feel like that has rubbed off on me and it’s making me enjoy all the good things history and science have to offer. I’ve enjoyed these subjects so much I have decided to continue my new learning in college at SMCC. I ended up being accepted into the marine science program there and cannot wait to pursue my dreams and aspirations of becoming a marine biologist. Science has taught me everything there is to know about life, oceans, animals, plants, etc. and history has taught me about the people, events, dates, places, etc. of anything you ever wanted to learn about. It can also make you think of the days when people went to war, faced plagues, presidential elections, slavery, colonization, and huge turning points in history. All of it is so amazing and when you have the urge to keep learning you never want to stop. In conclusion I feel that these subjects have given me the motivation to try harder in school and to keep working for that reason. Without history and science I would want no part of school. Even though this is an assignment for English I feel that these are the two subjects that have impacted my life enough for me to say they caused my fuel and my fire to keep learning. I have always been excited to share cool and interesting facts whether it’s about animals, the sun, or about the Vietnam War. Photo on Foter.com

I can relate to this because I have always enjoyed history as a subject. It was always intrigued me and it was interesting so I wanted to learn more. Science was never my strong suit but It was always interesting. I bet marine science is really cool because you get to spend all your time by the ocean. I’m glad you found something you love and I’m glad you are pursuing it in college. Good luck next year.
