Good morning white two English class. I am going to talk to you about how my high school career went and some things I have learned through it.
First, freshmen year. The first day of high school was probably one of the scariest days of my life. I had no clue where to go and this school seemed so big. I knew none of the teachers and hoped I had friends in all of my classes. Freshmen year was kind of a blur to me. Nothing really interesting happened freshmen year except on April Fools Day. I love pranking people so I thought it would be a good idea to pull a prank on my friends. I decided to snapchat them a picture of a brownie box and say that I was making brownies for tomorrow. I took brown construction paper and cut out the letter e to make brown e’s. Let’s just say my friends were not too happy with me that day. Then I felt bad and made brownies the next day.
Now, onto Sophomore year, where two of my close friends decided to hate each other and leave me in the middle where I was friends with both of them. That was a hard time for me because they were both of my friends and I couldn’t choose between them. Sophomore year was also when I started to make some new friends because my friends weren’t in any of my classes. I told myself that I needed to be brave and get to know new people. Sophomore year was also the year when people were starting to get their license. I didn’t even take driver’s ed yet because I was too young freshmen year and my cousin died in a car accident, so I had no interest in driving at the time. I finally decided to get over my fear and take driver’s ed at the end of sophomore year.
Junior year is when a lot of things changed for me. I got accepted into LRTC for carpentry. And no, carpentry has nothing to do with carpets. Carpentry is building stuff like houses, sheds, chairs or cabinets. This class completely changed my view on what I wanted to do with my life after high school. I was very shy at first because I was the only girl in a room with 12 guys and I knew none of them. What made it even better was I was the only one from Oak Hill, while everyone else in the class had someone from their school. I slowly started to make friends in that class and by the end I was friends with everyone. It’s sometimes a good thing to push yourself into things you are unsure about. I’m very glad I did.
Finally, it’s senior year. My teachers always told me that this year will fly by and I didn’t believe them at first. Now it is our last week of high school and now I can agree. Senior year was a big year for me. I got my license once I got over my fear of driving and passed first try. By the beginning of senior year I realized that I really like building stuff, so I applied and got accepted into CMCC for building construction. Do you remember how I said in freshman year how I liked to pull pranks on my friends? Well, I did it again this year, but instead I put hot sauce in the brownies and had my friends try them. One of my friends just thought I sucked at cooking and kept eating it until my other friend spit it out and said it was nasty. I got my pay back though because on April Fools day at LRTC my “friend” thought it would be a good idea to pee in my water bottle when I was working outside. When I went in to get a drink I had no clue why my water bottle was empty. Then they told me and I was really mad. He still hasn’t got me a new water bottle yet, which is kind of irritating me, but whatever.
One important thing I learned was to not procrastinate. You can take my advice too in college if you decide to go. I have said this every year of high school and still have not learned. Trust me, just get done your stuff on time so your not stressed out at the end of the year. No one wants to take summer school; that sucks. Summer is for having fun and hanging out with your friends, not school work. Please take my advice and just do the work on time. It’s so much easier to get done work on time so if you need help, teachers will actually work with you rather then complain about how it’s not done on time. Plus, when teachers ask you where the assignment is and you don’t have it done, you don’t want to tell them straight to their face that you didn’t even start it yet. That’s even worse, so get everything done on time and trust me do not procrastinate!!! It will not help you in the end!
Good luck everyone! I hope to see you all graduating on June 3rd.
