Surroundings

Mistakes are extremely easy to make but being able to learn from a mistake is extremely useful in life. As I learned once when I accidentally nudge the corner of my families garage small mistakes can cause you to maybe think that the consequence would be huge when it may be the opposite.

Bad days are terrible and most of the time you may feel like there is absolutely no way that it can get worse, but mine eventually did. The day that I accidentally ran into the garage I was having a pretty bad day, when I woke up I had to put my contacts in but the joke was on my because someone in my household had accidentally put their contacts in my case along with mine. This caused me to have to use a new pair which I struggled to get them in that morning. I then had to get ready to play a baseball game that afternoon. The game was not very good for me, as I did not get a hit and I made one error in the field. We ended up losing in the 10th inning by one run. I had built up anger throughout that game and drove angry all the way home. Once I arrived home I swung in the driveway carelessly and had to tuck my car in the corner. Normally I do not go into the driveway fast, but I let my play change my thought process and in a span of 10 seconds I grazed the garage. Immediately I thought “Oh no what did I just hit” which was then followed by me correcting my car into the spot and examining the bumper and saying “Stupid, why did you do that” looking back at it that was an accurate representation. I ultimately thought way too much about it and did not tell my parents for the next two weeks. When they found out they were not nearly as mad as I had figured they would be about something like that. I learned from hitting the garage would be to not let things bother me so that I can think clearly and effectively be able to check my surroundings and make sound judgement calls. Another takeaway that I had from this experience is to be honest when something happens and not to hold it away from someone because it ultimately may not be as bad as I think it is.

I learned that it is important to pay attention to surroundings and be honest, due to crashing my car into the garage.Much like when I hit the garage honesty helps out big time. One other takeaway that has helped me more with sports than anything else is to just play the game and not worry about performance because you perform the best when you are not worried about how you do. Now I think about this lesson when I maneuver my car into a tight space, not just when I am at home attempting to park next to the garage.
