This is a story about the day that my car stopped running in the middle of the road, it was a Friday in the middle of October and we had off of school this day. Three of my friends and I decided that we were going to take a trip down to Freeport and go shopping for the day then go watch the Leavitt football game at night. We made it to Freeport perfectly fine and shopped for a few hours and actually had a really good time.
After shopping, the three of us decided on just driving over to Mcdonalds for lunch because it was cheap and very close to the shopping center. We enjoyed the fast food and then went out into my car and started to drive back to Sabattus, as we started leaving we decided we wanted to keep shopping so I turned the car around and we headed to Brunswick to go to Tj Maxx and a few other places. This plan did not workout, while we were headed back near Freeport my car shut down right while I was driving and I had to pull over between both entrances for the turnpike. The three of us were really in complete shock, we had no idea what we were supposed to do so I just tried starting the car over and over again for a few minutes and obviously that wasn’t working so I called my mom and let her know of our situation. She told me she was going to call the towing company and have us towed back to my house because there was nothing else we could do. The tow truck was going to take about an hour so we had to sit in my car for an hour waiting for him and for my mom to pick us up. This honestly felt like such a long time because everybody who drove by was staring at us for the entire time, we had a random guy pull behind us and talk to us to make sure we were all set. That was kinda scary because we didn’t know who he was at first but he was actually just a really nice guy trying to help us out. So the tow truck finally after what felt like forever got to us and then we drove back home with my mom, the plans for the football game changed because I obviously couldn’t drive anymore so we had to go with someone else but it was all good.
This story connects to a moment in one of my favorite shows of all time, Drake and Josh. Not only does it connect in the feelings but it also connects in the events that occur. The Drake and Josh episode I am referring to is when Drake and Josh are going to a wedding and they drive themselves there, the car they are driving breaks down in the middle of nowhere and they panic because they have no clue what they should do. This was just like what my friends and I felt, we panicked a little bit because what do you do as three teenagers with a broken down car on the side of a very busy road. In the show they are in the middle of nowhere and there is no gas station or anything for another ten to fifteen miles. The feelings were very similar, not knowing what to do, and of course panicking a bit because it is a bit of a nerve wracking situation. The events that happen are not exactly the same but they are very similar considering both situations were a car not being able to move anymore and being stuck there for a while, what happened to lead up to this is a bit different but it still does fit both categories. The feelings do match up more for these two situations. Our feelings in this event were pretty crazy. I remember we were all stressing out just because the car was broken down, then my two friends pointed out that almost every car that drove by was staring directly at us. Having a ton of people staring at you definitely does not make a stressful situation like this any better, it was almost like a stress that made you sweat because you were just overthinking things. In the Drake and Josh episode once they realize they are stranded there they freak out at each other and start stressing out because they don’t want to miss the wedding they were going to. So the stress and the build up of tension was there in my situation and also in the Drake and Josh episode. My experience reminds me of the experience that Drake and Josh went through because we both went through the same emotions and we also had the same type of scenario with the cars both breaking down.

I really enjoyed reading your story! Sometimes the unexpected can really come out of no where and in this situation it was dangerous, but it’s good no accidents happen or that anyone got hurt. In that situation I think anyone would’ve probably been a little freaked out by their car turning off for no reason on a busy highway. I really enjoyed how you compared it to Drake and Josh as that used to be one of my favorite shows to watch when I was younger.
Oh my gosh I remember that exact episode of drake and josh I loved that show so much it was so great. I imagine that that situation must have been really scary and I’m really sorry that happened to you I am glad you could get a hold of your mom and the tow truck could get there as fast as it could to help.
That is actually a really bad situation to be in! At least you guys were able to enjoy the day before that happened. And at least someone was able to help you guys out and pick you up so you weren’t stranded! I’ve been in a situation like this before too, and all you can do is make the best out of it! At least you guys were safe and nothing worse happened!
This Is so upsetting. I hate when I have car troubles and have to wait for AAA or a tow to help me out with something especially of how long it takes. I am glad you and your friends where OK. I had to wait 2 hours for a jump once and It was not fun so I understand what you went through.
