During my high school years of soccer I’ve always wanted to be on the varsity soccer team because everyone was so good who played on that team. I looked up to them and wanted to be like them. I wanted to start and be talked about by other people on how good I was. As being a freshman I knew their was no way I would make the varsity team especially since I just started playing a few years ago when all my friends have been playing together since they were little. My freshmen year of soccer I meant many knew people and made many different bonds. I knew I would have to be patient when it came to the older ones telling me what to do because I did not like being told what to do. I would sometimes listen or talk back thinking I knew everything when I really didn’t. I knew my time as being a senior would come within the next four years so I had to be patient and wait for that to come.
My sophomore year I got better listening to peoples advice and following what they told me to do but still having a attitude. I played a few minute in varsity here and their and got very excited when I got complimented by the older ones because I always put myself down. It was good for me to play on j.v.I got good playing time and it got me ready for the next years I would be on varsity. On the bench was where my patients needed to be because I needed to wait my turn and wait for my playing time to come. I got a little better with my feet skills but definitely needed more work. My junior year I got more playing time and enjoyed every moment of it. I loved watching the senior play because they were so good and they all gave me good advice when it came to playing on the field and being patient. I got closer with every senior, Julia was like my older sister who I looked up to, she helped me keep a positive attitude and keep my head up while playing soccer. Josie has the attitude of me but she helped me in the defensive end because she was a defender and she gave me good ideas and advice while being in the defensive line. Macie and Maggie were just their to keep soccer fun but they were also good to look up to as well. They would say “Be patient your time will come” or “hang in their the ball will come to you just give it time”. I looked up to them for help and advice because they all played longer then me and give good tips when it comes to playing on the field.
My last year of high-school soccer came. My senior year finally came around as I’ve been wanting and waiting for. I didn’t know covid was going to be a thing and I am so very lucky I got a season anyways and I made the best out of it. I got to start on varsity and some games I would play the whole game which made me excited because I have always wanted to be like the other seniors and my year finally came. I was patient all these years to be a senior on the soccer team and be able to start as being a defender. I am glad throughout my years I learned how to be patient and stay patient because good things will come out of it.
