Pros and Cons of Teenage Addictions

Social media is an app that takes over most young adults’ life. In some cases, it becomes their life and or source of income. In most, though people use it as a way to keep in touch with old friends and family members that live in other places. It’s also used for entertainment to make someone’s day better, make them smile, show them that they aren’t alone. Those people are called creators they are pretty much showing what it’s kind of like in their lives. They also do it not matter what they are going through whether it be hate or just it not being a good day. They still want to make someone else’s life/day better. This shows the bad and good side of social media, meaning it more about what you as an individual to and post, while on social media.

Personally, I tend to use it for scheduling like for sports or a family event. For example, having it for the sports team when there is an update or scheduling change. Mainly knowing when to be there and at what time that event is. It also works a keeping up with people’s lives like what they are doing. Social media can show a picture of what they are doing or where they have been if they have traveled. It’s also a way to find entertainment due to creators. They tend to give people laughs and or show them that they’re not alone. From personal experience, it gives a source of entertainment and or knowledge from sports teams, or for tik tok and the creators doing a fun skit or ranting about personal problems that most teenage girls go through. So in all, it not the worst thing in the world if you really think about it.

The paragraph above states why there are good reasons, now for the bad reason. People tend to get distracted from it causing most to get to attach to their phones. Which then causes people’s neck and thumbs to hurt at the constant looking at their phones. There is also cyberbullying and hate. People not realizing that words hurt just as badly as physical pain sometimes. There is also the constant worry of body shaming. Making it feel like you have to be thin to be considered pretty. As a bigger girl, I tend to worry if I am pretty enough than making me down in the dumps. So those are the “bad” thing. In reality, Social media has it good and bad thing about it. But all in all, it’s more about your own personal presence like if you start hate then your part of the cause on why there are some issues. It’s also having tough skin and letting some of the comment rolls of you back, making it seem like it doesn’t bother you. In all, it’s more about what you believe in and who you view social media as a whole
