Patience is a Virtue

From a young age almost every child is taught to be patient. All throughout my younger childhood I remember being told to be patient about everything. Patience has always been hard for me to practice as I prefer to have results immediately. But there is an ongoing patience I am currently participating in. All throughout my younger years, I would have friends that would always go on vacations to Disney Land or go out of state and travel and have the time of their lives. I would always complain to my parents about this as it seemed unfair that these other people get to experience these things.

Being oblivious to practicality and financial situations at a young age made me ignorant as to why my family has never gone on a big vacation. Almost every year I would get sad and angry at my parents for not bringing us anywhere but now I understand why they couldn’t. Bringing my sister and I to large crowds of people at large amusement parks is dangerous, especially when a demon-child like myself who loves to get up and run away for no reason, and it doesn’t help that it is incredibly expensive to afford such a vacation.

Every year I would be told to be more patient, I would have to wait and wait and wait and it never came. But I have always held on to the hope of a big family vacation and getting those experiences with my family. And it finally paid off. This year my parents announced to my sister and I that we would be going to Universal Studios in Florida, this January. I was so stoked. Not to mention the fact that my favorite family members will be there. My dad’s sister, Rachel, her husband Joe, and their children, Nick and Ella. Every time we would get together with them it would always be a blast.

After my father announced the big reveal, he then told us he purchased non-refundable plane tickets and that we’ll be renting out a house with a pool and a hot tub. The house also has a washer and dryer so there is no need for excessive packing, and the house is beautiful. It looks like something I could only dream of ever being in.

Patience is a virtue that is rightfully taught to young children and I’m glad I had that lesson. Being patient throughout my childhood allows me to appreciate going on a vacation now because if I were a young child, I would remember and appreciate less. I am extremely thrilled to go on this trip, and I am very grateful I was patient enough.
