Patience

Patience

I don’t always have great patience, I tend to get angry easily and take a break. One thing I tend to have patience for is hunting. I love to hunt, My whole family does so I have grown up learning it and becoming more patient. There is no specific time I can remember being patient but I remember the feeling of patients throughout my time hunting.

Some seasons we are very successful, last year I shot two deer but some seasons we didn’t see anything, not even a squirrel. I remember the frustration of not seeing anything or missing a deer but instead of getting frustrated you have to be patient. I can actually remember a time that my dad and I had success after being patient. We had sat all day, I mean from 5:15a.m. till around 4:00p.m. and it was starting to get dark. I was ready to leave as the sun was setting and I was getting colder but he insisted we stay until past shooting time. I finally agreed and of course a small buck came out in front of us, BOOM, as I shot and killed the animal.

I felt gratitude for my father’s patients and wanted to have the same amount of patients he did that day. Patience is hard, it is something that can not be taught but you must learn yourself through trial and error.

To me patients can be overwhelming, it feels like you have been sitting forever and you want to do something else or quit but you learn to cope with it because the outcome could be fantastic.
