So how can I start this speech? I’ll start by saying that when I got here I hated everything and now I don’t want to leave. Everything was different at first and now I’m starting to adapt and fit in my place. I have to leave everything behind like friends, customs, family and other things that I will miss a lot.
Talking about memories, it was very sad when everyone started to share their memories with each other about elementary school, middle school or first year of high school because I wasn’t here (unfortunately). I don’t like when someone starts talking about the memories of the past , because when I share it is not the same because they weren’t there with me. It was a very hard year for me with a lot of learning and good memories that I will share with my friends back home ( or not because they weren’t here with me) . So this question pops out , do I regret it? Do i regret spending one year of my life staying with people that I’ve never met before, oh a good fact they don’t speak my language. No, I don’t regret anything. If I could, I would like to repeat this year even though I miss my family and friends back home.
Talking about the school in general , what a nice place to stay almost the whole day 7:30 to 13:55 (or 1:55pm because you guys don’t use military time) . It’s a lot. I like everyone who is in that school. starting with the teachers who helped and supported me a lot and finishing with staff and the kitchen ladies , everybody is polite with you and try to help you because they know that you are not from here , i remember asking what was in that food to the ladies and they started laughing because it was a very traditional food here, it’s the little things that will stay at my head, like first day sitting by myself at the lunch time and now sitting in the same spot everyday at the same table with all my friends. Sports! I cannot right i speech not saying how sports is nice here, the friends that you make the travels, going to another schools, the time that you pass together you need to like or, like your teammates because you pass more time with them then your real family , it’s just a family that i will never forget. Before i came to the U.S my mom read a quote for me and said to me that all the time that i miss her i should think about this “Tomorrow is a mystery.Yesterday is history.Live today,it’s a gift, that’s why they call it present” by Aleatha Romig. So I did all the time. I think of this quote and everything feels better because you need to live the present because the past is past. “Those who live in the past are museum” you need to enjoy the “today” because tomorrow will be late. So my advice for the future graduate is enjoy your high-school moments , the little things , the teachers , the food that sometimes is not that great, membean (you are gonna miss it), and mainly your friends because i don’t know when i’ll see my high-school friends again, after this period of four years or one for me each person will take a different destiny on their lives. So make this for years nice and fun! Enjoy it.
