When I first started high school at Oak Hill I never would have thought I’d have some of the best memories of my teenage years. It feels like my freshmen year was only a couple weeks ago. Time really does fly when you’re stressed out with schoolwork at the end of each semester. Many different things happened while I was at high school, like the time when my friend Joe and I ran into each other while playing capture the flag in gym class and he ended up breaking my nose. This story starts when I would skip LRTC to go to gym class and get past due school work done before the end of the semester or year. I would go into gym class and ask Mr.Right if I could do gym too as a joke at first and he was all like “yeah, sure, I don’t care,” so I would go in and do gym with everyone. We did our warm ups and then we started playing a game called “capture the flag” and I went in to get the flag and I wasn’t paying attention to what was on the side of me and so wasn’t Joe. When I looked back, I had run straight into Joe’s chin. All I could feel was my nose crunching together and as soon as that happened I grabbed my nose and everything made a crunching noise when I straightened my nose back out. Then I took my hand off my nose and my eyes were watery and my nose was numb. Nothing really hurt, but blood poured out of my nose like a waterfall. Mr.Daniels came over to me and asked if I was alright and I was like “yeah” besides the blood pouring out of my nose, I felt pretty great. So he brought me over to the nurse and we stopped the bleeding. I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Look where you’re running and don’t run into people. I would just like to thank my good friend Joe for teaching me this and Mr.Daniels who offered to put my nose back in place if it wasn’t.
There was another thing I had learned in high school when I did track at Lisbon. It’s always good to try new things because you will never know what good memories you’ll get. One time when the track team and I were done with a meet, my friend Josh and I had gone back to his house and ordered a pizza for us to share. The plan was to get a pizza hangout in the hottub and watch a movie. We watched the movie “Prefontaine”. He’s the world’s best long distance runner. We had hangout because it was his last day, he was going down to his college soon so we made a day to hangout. We had talked about all the good times we had while doing outdoor track and indoor track and all the memories we had made while on the team. What I learned with this is don’t take things for granted. All in all I had a great time in high school and the best thing I feel I took away was good work ethic and I feel like I’m going to miss high school in some sort of way.
