Tahoe

In the winter of 2021, my dad brought home my first vehicle, A 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV. As you can imagine I was the happiest boy alive at the time. My dad and I did everything to get the car ready for when I could finally drive on my own. We did all the suspension work it needed, some minor rust work we could do from home, brakes all the way around and I even painted the wheels to make them look new again.

As time went on, I got my license, and like any new teenage driver, I didn’t stop driving. Like many new drivers, you are eager to show off the fact that you got your license. The day I got mine I went everywhere, to both my grandparent’s houses, to my work to show off to my co-workers, I was as excited as you can imagine.

By the end of my first summer driving, I was doing great, I had a good job, and good friends I would drive around with, but things would take a turn. As the summer came to an end, and golf practice started, I had cut the muffler off my Tahoe with my buddies, Mason, Skylar, and Xavier. These were the people I would hang out with every day. We did everything together, especially me and Skylar, he was the little brother I always wanted. Everything in my life was going great. It was everything I wanted. Of course, I was one of those kids who would obnoxiously rev my engine to “impress” others around me. My ignorance would later get the best of me. It was my poor judgment and chaotic driving style that would make me regret the decisions I made.

At the beginning of my Junior year of high school, everything was going well until it wasn’t. My ignorance of the fact that constantly revving my engine would do more harm than good ended up biting me in the butt. On October 3, 2022, I got an oil change and just two days later on October 5, 2022, I blew up the motor of my Tahoe. My pistons quite literally exploded into a million pieces and my crankshaft snapped in half. I regret every day that I treated that vehicle the way I did. Perhaps if I didn’t make the mistakes I did while driving the Tahoe, I would still be driving it today.
