When it comes to texting vs calling I prefer to call because calling can voice emotions and manner better than any text can do. Calling or texting is a big debate throughout society nowadays with different generations using more and more advance ways of communicating. Furthermore, if you want to be serious and sincere in an apology or business decision you would likely call because that’s the more appropriate thing to do. Calling or texting communicate different emotions and form relationships differently, the idea of calling is referred to the thing of the past but it is still the most important tool for formal matters and conversations. Texting is seen as informal and is more of a way to communicate quickly and discreet without others knowing. Texting is also more convenient and the norm of society nowadays. Calling is used as a way to voice your emotions better and vocal expressions of the conversation better than a text. During calling you can easily express sarcasm and concern in vocal tones and changes in tone, than a text can. Texting uses emojis to express a message that is not easy to be understood if you are from an older generation. Texting is more suited to the young generation and is used as a way to chat when bored and pass the time. Calling is used to be in a formal and informal way like business calls or just checking up on a friend and want to express themselves better than a text can. An example of calling instead of texting is to set up a doctor appointment or set up a job interview. An example of texting is to share a funny meme or hold a conversation in discreet if in a loud and busy place.
Some of the advantages of calling for formal use is to build relationships over the phone and to establish a connection between company and customer. Calling lets the person on the other line know that they are talking to a real person that can help them and trust. On the other hand texting for formal matters is used for many big companies like Apple and Microsoft. However, texting is not a good way to establish a business relationship because there is only a limited amount of emotion and feeling can be put into a text. Companies who have a customer support section through texting is primarily done by artificial intelligence and is hard to build trusting relationships with customers. That is why texting is limited to small issues like troubleshooting and customer support and can only give you a certain amount of answers to your questions. If you would want to get the right answers from a human, calling is the way to go for formal matter.
There are many ways texting and calling can be used, but calling will be the most important form of communication you will need going into adulthood for teens. Additionally, expectations for adulthood is to be good at talking over the phone and holding conversations to build relationships and establish trust or to phone a restaurant or make a doctor appointment. lastly calling and texting both share the purpose of communication, but it is down to preference and the situation at hand rather than which one is better. However, I still prefer calling as my way to communicate presently and in the future.
