A Flower and A Stick

Ebourgoin25’s avatar has 3 simple stripes. The middle stripe is white and is thinner than the other 2 outside stripes. The left outside stripes is a light purple color and the right side is black. In the middle of the avatar is a thin black outline of an iris flower. The flower is placed in the middle of the white stripe with bits crossed onto the other colors.

I thought that the outside colors represented Ebourgoin25’s past aesthetics and styles. How she used to dress a little emo and alternative which would’ve been represented with the black stripe, and how now she dresses with lighter colors and more pinks. I thought that maybe the white line was the separation between the two. The iris outline in the middle could mean a lot of things, but I was thinking of a memorial for maybe a friend or family member.

I asked Ebourgoin25 what each symbol represented and why she chose them. I started with the Purple stripe, “I love field hockey a lot and that purple is a color on my stick.” The colors of the stripes each ended up correlating with the colors of her field hockey stick. “The reason I bought the stick was because of the purple, black, and the white. The reason the white strip is smaller on the avatar is because its the grip color on my stick.” I wasn’t expecting there to be so much involved with field hockey. When I asked about the iris outline I got a unexpected answer from Ebourgoin25 again. “I love irises and it represents my future family [because] I want to name my first daughter that.”

I was surprised by how much Ebourgoin25’s represented field hockey in her avatar. “Part of the reason I am who I am and the reason I’m a good leader and a good friend is because of field hockey. Its my favorite time of year.” I also wasn’t fully sure what the iris was going to represent but I didn’t think of it being used as a meaningful name to Ebourgoin25’s.
