My partner’s, (mlevasseur-robbins@rsu4.net) avatar was bright, colorful, and had character. His use of an all pink background and bright green leaves on the tree in the center will capture your attention for sure. The deeper green on the peacock leaves, as well as the symmetry they display by rising up on adjacent sides of the tree keeps your attention occupied. Mlevassuer-robbins25’s contrasting black border emphasizes the image very well, causing it to pop into your attention even further.
Mlevassuer-robbins25 used things like his favorite color, favorite animal, animals he owns, and his overall enjoyment for nature to produce his avatar. The black border being his favorite color and the bright pink background showcasing his favorite animal, pigs. The peacock feathers belonging to his Peacock’s back at home, and the use of the tree as insight into his love for nature are both great choices and boost the avatar to be it’s best.
He would describe his choice for having 2 feathers important because, “It makes it symmetrical.”(-mlevassuer-robbins25) Symmetry is important in creating a good design, although not fundamental, it still works well. Some other quotes from mlevassuer-robbins25, include, “black goes with everything”, and “nature is important.” Nature being important is true but maybe even more so for mlevassuer-robbins25. He symbolized his favorite animal and an animal he owns alongside the tree. The inclusion of these animals didn’t symbolize nature, yet they are both still apart of it. Three out of four symbols being nature related proves it definitely plays a major role in michaels thought process while creating this avatar.
My thought process was meaning focused in a different way. mlevassuer-robbins25 included some of his favorite things as well as important things, but they are mostly tangible things. I included a flock of birds in mine, they symbolize unity/support since they all work together. My color selection was based on what i was wearing. I had green pants, a tan shirt, and black boots + black jacket. This is what influenced my color palette completely. I enjoy design and art so I used a self made design, my outfit, as inspiration for the colors I included. My other elements included; shape and line. These are other aspects of design I can appreciate and wanted to work with myself. I think both avatars, when broken down, are good symbols for me and mlevassuer-robbins25 as people.
