Mistakes Were Made

I have made many mistakes in my life and have had to face many consequences. It was the first day of senior year and I was pumped about my schedule. I have late arrival and my first class was English. My alarm was set for 8:35 am and I have to be in class at 9:06am. I took my time getting ready and made sure I looked good for my first day of senior year. By the time I was done with my morning routines it was 8:55. There I was, I flew right out of the house. I got on Route one-twenty-six and before I knew it was going 75 MPH. I got to school and it was 9:04 and I knew I was already late cause I had to go to my locker. In between classes my mom sends me a screenshot of Life 360 saying “Risky Drive.” I knew I was in deep trouble because my mom had warned me about my speed leading up to this incident. I wasn’t very understanding of the whole incident. Then I realized I needed to work on my time management. There is no need for me to be going 75 MPH on 126 in a 55 MPH speed limit zone.

I was dreading even going home. I walked in and immediately handed my keys to my father without him even asking for them. Well enough my car and phone are both taken from me. The next day I took the bus to and from school. There is a twist: it was a Wednesday. On Wednesdays I get out of school at 12:00 and football practice is at 3:30. Since I had no phone or way to communicate with my team about transportation I had to bike from my house to practice. The ride is 3.1 miles from my house and it took me 15 minutes to get there. The ride absolutely sucked. My legs were dead for practice and all of my teammates saw me ride into practice on a bike. After practice I walked out to my bike and my whole team rushed out of the locker room so they could pass me while driving home. I was praying that someone with a truck would pick me up and I could put the bike in the bed of their truck. One of my teammates pulled over and said “get in man.” My teammate could have been in the same situation and I would have helped him if he needed something from me. When you are on a team everyone is a family and you make sacrifices for each other.
