Call or Text

People choose texting over calling because they value the efficiency and ability to respond on their own schedule. While calling is preferred for building a clearer understanding of what the other person has to say, people still prefer to text.

The advantage of calling is that you get a better and clearer understanding of what the person has to say. When calling you can get an immediate response sometimes and you can get a real time interaction. Calling is a good way if something is urgent.

The disadvantages of calling is that your schedule may be full and you don’t necessarily have time to call someone right away so you get back to them days later. Also, with calling you could call at a bad time when someone is dealing with work, school, and other activities. You can also leave a message for them in their voice mail box but it doesn’t mean they will actually check it. While calling can be very time consuming and you don’t want to be rude and hang up. There can also be some miscommunication with loud background noise.

The advantages for texting is the ability to talk to someone discretely about something when you can’t call. When you don’t want to forget to tell someone something but there isn’t time to call just text them . Texting is a good convience because the other person can respond on their own time or get back to you when they are available. Texting also provides good multitasking which enables you to communicate while doing other activites.

The disadvantages for texting is you don’t get immediate feedback and could be left on delivered for days or weeks. A misunderstanding can happen with texting. Someone may interperet the text by giving “attitude” when in truth its not.. Overthinking a text happens a lot. People think the message should be perfect and they are understress because they don’t understand. Distracted during a text message happens when you leave the text open and don’t answer for a while because you’re driving, doing school work or at work. There is time consuming text messages where the texting goes on forever. It would be easier if the person had called them if its going to be an in depth conversation requiring immediate feedback.

In conclusion both calling and texting give good advantages and disadvantages making it work in any situation. While calling gives somewhat immediate feedback and dealing with urgent topics and builds a good connection. On the other hand texting provides flexibility so you can answer when you’re available, It also provides convenience, but it can lack emotional clarity to in depth discussions. Overall calling or texting is just a preference. Depends on the situation if texting or calling is appropriate.
