History of Aerosmith

Aerosmith was a band big in the 1970’s and 80’s. The band was very much known for its unique style of music, and its great success throughout the world. In 1964, the lead singer of the band, Steven Tyler, was trying to start a band. So he did just that, It was called “The Strangeurs” with a small group of his friends. Meanwhile, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton got together and formed a seperate band called “Joe Perry’s Jam Band” As the separate bands all seemed to find their way to Boston, they ended up meeting each other, and forming one band known as Aerosmith. The band itself was formed in the year 1970, and was signed with Columbia Records by 1972.  It took them only a year to put together their first album, and then shortly after, their self titled album in the year 1973. By the year 1974, the album called ‘Get Your Wings’, was a hit throughout the United States. The first five albums that the band wrote, all went multi-platinum. Throughout the 1970’s, the band toured around the United States, and over a dozen of their songs charted the Hot 100 list. By the end of the 1970’s, Aerosmith was known as one of the most popular bands not just in the United States, but in the world.

Like the very famous Beatles in the 1960’s, Aerosmith was well known for bringing a new type of music to the table. The band produced a genre of music that was like hard rock, blues, and metal all mixed into one. Aerosmith is still to this day the best selling American rock band to ever exist. They have sold more than 150 million albums, and 70 million of those were in the United States alone. Aerosmith released 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums in just this short time period. The band has received many awards for their various albums as well as singles.

The band actually ended up breaking up over petty little fights. There were rumors there was something about girlfriends, people not getting what they wanted, and wanting to go solo. Some people say that the band broke up over an argument over room service bills. It was such a shame that such a successful band was not made to be.
