Nine Lives-Aerosmith

Aerosmith was formed in 1970 by Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Steven Tyler. Tyler, with his trademark high shriek, became lead singer. For the next two years all five members shared a small apartment in Boston and played almost nightly throughout the area. During the 70’s through the 90’s, the group continued to build their popularity in the Grammy awards. They started working on a new song, but was slowed down by having the producer replaced by Kevin Shirley, and the death of Joey Kramer. Aerosmith came out with a few more songs and won another Grammy award; making them at for awards from the Grammy’s.

The album Nine Lives, was released on March 18, 1997. This album hit number one on the U.S. Billboard and number four on the U.K. Albums Chart. The song,” Pink,” in this album won a Grammy Award in 1998. The first single from Nine Lives, the song titled “Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees),” is a mushy love-gone-wrong song. “The Farm” features a very theatrical feel, while “Pink” has a contemporary guitar-pop feel, with a cool hip-hop beat.This album mostly describes how the group is supposed to “age gracefully.” However, the lyrics to the songs in this album could suggest otherwise. 😛

One song from this album is entitled Nine Lives. This is the featured song of the album.  This song is all about how you can fall in love over and over again, breaking it off with a broken heart. When it’s broken off, it hurts, but soon everyone gets back on the love train. This song seems to compare one’s love life with the nine lives of a cat. They’re stunned for a bit, but shortly, after some time passes, they’re back on their feet again. Another song from this album is entitled Pink. There isn’t really any evidence of where this song came from. However, many may believe it was released to share a love struck sort of story. It talks all about how pink is the best color for everything because it means girls and love, basically. In this song it shares that although pink is very dainty, it’s the best color. Personally, I think they don’t actually love pink, they just like the thought of girls and love. A third song from this album is called Attitude Adjustment. It’s about how a guy hitched up with a girl and the girl left him. When she comes back begging him to take her back, he plainly says nope. I think this song is kind of funny because it reminds me of a friend’s experience. There’s no evidence to support who in the group this happened to, unfortunately.
