With new consoles for video games coming out the longtime fans await for new arrivals of games. Some want new series to start, but many want remakes of the older classic games. This brings up many issues about what the fans want. Some want the old games to be remastered for the new consoles with newer graphics. Some want the old games to get sequels to continue their story. And some want the old games to be completely remade with the same characters, but in different situations. This causes problem for the game companies. How do they please as many people as they can with making a game that can make them profit? Majority does not rule in this case. What is going to make them the most profit is what is important to them.
The new game consoles allow for better graphics and new way for online play. The problem with this is that all the new consoles require internet to download updates and patches for the games, compared to the older consoles which did not need any internet to use. Just plug and play. The patches for those games include updates to any glitches or problems. This causes concerns for remakes of older games. When the remakes get patches, it is believed that the game companies are trying to change the story of the remake. This happens with every game that gets updated, but it is more pointed at remakes because the fans of the game do not want the story to change. Some games that have had these remakes include:
- Halo Remastered
- Gears Of War Remastered
- Twisted Metal Remastered
- Resident Evil
- Aliens
- Devil May Cry
- Kingdom Hearts
- The Legend Of Zelda
- Mario
These games are not only remastered versions of the game, but a different concept for a story. The games were not remade so the companies could make the story line exactly the way it, but to add new ideas to the games that the public likes. The story cannot changes because then it would not be a remastered version, it would be a new game. The idea is to add newer features to the game so the concept does not get lost. Adding new graphics is a start, but gamers want more than that. They want to do what the new games have in the old ones. This is why remastered versions are made, but are they getting out of hand?
Remakes of games have made a huge comeback. Gamers want the games they grew up playing so they can play them again. This pleases many people when they get to have nostalgia playing the games they love. The public only has an issue with when the games change the story. If the story changes than it is not the remake of the game. As long as the games do not change this can remain a positive.
