Thinking about what you've read, seen, and heard, define discrimination.

I agree with you on how it can make people not be able to do certain things but it's more than just not being able to access things but being treated rudely or mean for their color, national origin and how much money they make and stuff.

I think discrimination is when you are targeting someone based on their skin, past actions e.t.c. Sometimes even things they can not control but you just have a problem with it.

the act of treating someone poorly based on something they can't control.

What can't they control? This is a good start but there are many things people can't control. They can't control the food they like, or the amount of money their family has. Many people get discriminated for things such as skin color and sexuality but there is a wide span of reasons people get treated poorly. What did you mean when you said "the act of treating someone poorly based on something they can't control" because that includes so many things?

Discrimination to me means that someone is being singled out in a negative way because of how they look, act, or have different beliefs than others.

What discrimination means to me is prejudice or bias against one or more races, cultures, religions, genders, or age groups.

I think that discrimination of someone is that people don't like how other people are different so they lash out at them in an ill manner.

To leave someone out, bully, and/or dislike a person due to a certain trait they have, what they believe in, how they look, or how they might do things.

Discrimination is a negative way to single out a person because of their Race, Religion, Sex, Looks, and how they act.

Yes they are being singled out, but why? I think you may have missed the part where gender, skin tone, beliefs etc. are a factor in this. According to the definitions discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. You're right when saying it's a negative way but it's not because of anything they can control. A lot of people would change the things like skin tone and sexuality and what not if they could because discrimination still happens everyday to people who have no control over these things.

I agree with you here but do you think that there is a little more to discrimination then just someone being singled out? Yes singling someone out is apart of discrimination but I think there is a lot more. Maybe next time you could add more to the definition. So people that didn't know what discrimination is would have a better understanding about the topic.

I believe discrimination is suppressing and targeting a certain group, religion, race, belief, or quality, etc. due to the inability to accept.

Excluding certain parties of people based upon uncontrollable characteristics.

This is a good concise explanation, but could it also be characteristics that they can control? Like how they dress or portray themselves or what their opinion is, where they are from, what car they drive, what they say, or how much money they make. It seems like people can be excluded for things they can control.
