The Ted Talk (Don’t feel sorry for refugees – believe in them - Luma Mufleh) is about a woman who is a refugee and she is trying to let people know how little we help refugees. The book Out of Nowhere is about a boy named Tom and his experience of being an immigrant in America and the struggles he goes through and how he has to cope with the bullying and trying to fit in with the new culture.

The connection between my book and the Ted Talk is that they both talk about bullying and personal experiences they go through in life that proves it. "I do," I admitted, "But it's important that I speak about us, that I speak about your journeys, about my journey. People need to know." ( 00:39 Mufleh)  "Can we not talk about Samira right now? I'm sort of like the mayor. A little maxed out on Somalis." (186 Padian)

Does your character connect to Tom? If so what adversities do they have in common? If not, what seems to be the difference they face with bullying?

In my book we are all that’s left written by Carrie Arcos, Zara gets help with her trauma and what has happened to her that day because everytime she keeps on trying to go to bed she keeps on seeing people dead… Zara is finally doing well in her photography class. They have to choose a story about them and Zara choses what she went through with the bombing and her mother too. The professor likes it a lot. We also learn more of what her mother did to get to Visegrad. Nadja is finally out of the hospital, they are both doing good and they are finally not fighting as much, they talk more, they are both getting help with their trauma and they are finally safe and happy where they live.

In my novel we are being shown how Zara and Tom connect with how Zara knows nothing about her mother (Nadja) and Tom knows nothing about Saeed but as the book goes on they both learn more about the Characters and what has happened to them.

at first she dealt with the trauma by hiding it from her father so he didn't need to worry about her. But after her mother woke up she stopped blaming herself and could finally sleep so she and her mother both got help with what happened.
