The book by Vonnegut was slaughterhouse five. It is a book about Billy Pilgrim and how he becomes “unstuck in time” It is about how Billy sees the world because of the war. His psyche is making his brain think he is meeting aliens and seeing his future. Billy's story in the book is about how one might see the world or how their psyche might change due to the trauma of the war.

Lit Term~Character~ It shows character more than any other Lit Term for this quote. It shows how the character sees the sky in the Sunday school picture. It really shows how the person thinks and sees the world calling the picture enchanted and absurd. The message about war in this quote is that even though people go through war and some that go through war start to see things differently whether better or worse or they can still see it how they would have before but something else about them might be different.

Lit Term~Understatement~ This is a huge understatement in the book due to the fact that these are literal aliens talking about time to a man who was just in a war. This just shows how his psyche which is making all of this up is undermining the fact that he has just met aliens and time traveled. He is thinking this is one of the small worries as he is time traveling while also still in the war during an attack and meeting aliens.
